Time for Tulips

I finished this quilt late last night. It's the first hand sewing (the binding) that I have done since I started having problems with my left hand/wrist this summer.  It wasn't particularly painful while working on it but I sure knew I had used that hand today.  Got aches and pains and some tingling again  so I guess I know what caused the problem. Let's hope the specialist I am seeing next month can make my hand  work like it did before.

My biggest concern is that I may not be able to hand sew a quilt again...it has been one of my favorite past times. Despite the fun I am having with my mid arm and sewing machine , my passion is to sew by hand and to quilt by hand.  Plus I have some PHD's that need to be finished by hand
While sewing the binding on this one I found places where I had not been able to feel the thread as it was supposed to pass through the three layers and I actually missed and left long threads on the back. Never had that happen before so it was very discouraging to see. I'm not an excellent quilter but I am a fairly good one...now I am not.

That being said, this one is called Tulip Time...it was a free pattern, I think from Northcott, meant for template pieces and accurate piecing. I loved making it. It's a big quilt and will fit over the sides of our queen sized bed. I think I will hold it back for a while since our Sheltie likes to sleep on our bed and no matter how clean she is, she still leaves her mark. Not a complaint since she does cuddle on occasion and it is worth it.
