One of many little chores DH took care of today...This is a picture looking down on a Chickadee's nest. He put the birdhouse onto a post near the patio at our walkout in the basement. A little Chickadee decided it was the perfect place to nest. Just look at the carpet of greenery she put in there. That round thing you see is an egg that did not hatch.
Can you believe how much effort she put into making this nest...the "carpet" is almost two inches thick. A little sad about the unhatched egg...hope it does not have the remains of a little chick...would hate that.
It will be cleaned and put aside for next year and if we are lucky we will have another momma use it for a nest.
