Lessons learned.

This is what Tigger was doing while I was struggling with machine quilting..she didn't care that I learned a few very valuable lessons today. One.....don't be in such a hurry to finish things...just because machine quilting is supposed to be faster than hand quilting doesn't mean it can be done THAT fast.

Two: never forget your basics....measure the quilt properly before adding borders...regardless of how accurate you THINK your sewing is ,it doesn't hurt to double check.

Three:..If my needle is making a "puck, puck" sound, replace it.

Four: I need lots of practise...

Five: a hot iron can fix lots of "oopsies".

And lastly, take pictures far away so no one can see how badly you've machine quilted, even if they enlarge the pic.

Now it's time for a cup of tea and piece of Judy Laguardia's Creamsicle cake...it is fabulous. I wish I could learn how to include a link so you can all pop over and get her recipe. Made it a couple of days ago ...Fred and I are lovin' it.

  1. Oh, my dear, that looks just great. No one will ever examine your work as closely as you will. Something you can do that frees you from worrying about how you are doing and gives you practice is just make some nice size practice "sandwiches" and have at it. There is a great blog with a video each day you might want to look at - freemotionquilting.blogspot.com and I am sure you can find lots of others on line, too. Carol

  2. Good for you! Nothing learned nothing gained!! I bet it is not as bad as you think.... from a distance, it looks lovely! To include a link in your post, when you want to put a link, put in the person's name (or whatever word you are using, ie. their blog, the word "here"...) then highlight it and click on the little link icon at the top of your post... a box will pop up and all you have to do is put in the url (ie. http://blog...)... best way is to go to their blog and the specific post, copy the address form the address line (the http part), then paste it into that box... you now have a link... hope that helps... if not, just ask and I will send you a screen shot.... (I freely give this lesson because I looooooove creamsicles and so I am sure I'd love this cake... heh heh heh).... Hugs.

  3. My cats and dog are much like your furry baby - they just don't seem to care about my struggles! The nice thing is they are always ready to share some love. I think your lessons learned are good ones.

I will have to search the recipe for Creamsicle cake, sounds really good!
