Five years ago when DH and I were moving to Sussex a wonderful quilting friend of mine gave me a whole bunch of Bali prints (fat quarters) that she felt obligated to buy...that is a story in itself but it's not mine to tell.....and not being a "Bali" person she decided that I should have them to make a quilt top for her and one for me. Now being the Scottish soul that I am, the thought of all those gorgeous Bali's just stirred up the ol' imagination...stars, of course so I accepted. Well, I made my top...it actually saved my sanity when stuck in a housekeeping unit for over a month with no sewing machine and all my toys...so I sewed a top ...by hand, mind you. and got it all finished when we moved into our house and quilted it right away...to heck with un packing boxes and moving things around. Well, that quilt won a couple of ribbons and I was pleased and in my usual fashion I put things away and moved on to something else. Yeah...I forgot all about making the second top. Got an email this spring, wondering if I had gotten around to her top. Gadzooks!!! I forgot where I put the Bali's and if I had even kept them...I was in a panic. I started searching and discovered that I am more organized than I thought. I had kept them all together in anticipation of getting "around to it". Well here is her top. I'm sad to say that I ran out of the background fabric after finishing the centre part but the fabric I chose for the outside borders is as close as I could find to match. What do you think, will she like it.
Gail, I'm quite sure she won't like it at all, in which case you can give it to me. I love it!! Just kidding. Of course she will LOVE it. What's not to love?? Beautiful batiks, beautiful colors and knowing you, beautiful quilting will turn it into another ribbon winner....
