Just had to see what it would look like on our bed. I must say, I do like it but I will never put it on the bed...at least not while Tigger and Faith are living with us. Tigger would chew anything that sticks up slightly and have a grand time seeking out more. Faith would scratch to make a bed and tear the fabric....Love them dearly, but am not blind to the foibles of being a mom to furkids.
This is a cross stitch that our first born did for our 25th anniversary in 1995. I read it often and usually pause to admire her workmanship...she's a perfectionist when she wants to be. The other day, when I took this picture, it dawned on me...not that it was our 25th but that it was the same time that she was preparing for her own wedding in August..(Our anniversary is in July). I had no idea that she had been working on this until she presented it to DH and I at our family gathering. What a wonderful thing she had done...showing us how much she cared while she was sooo very busy. That's my firstborn child!! When you consider that DH and I will have 42 years this year...I guess you could say I am a little slow on the uptake.
This little thing is called a laundry ditty bag...why laundry, I don't know, it's certainly not big enough for any of my laundry. It is, however, large enough to hold a tea mug , a spoon and my Splenda. A lot of the ladies at my guild have them and I had been dying to make one. I found the pattern by typing in "free ditty bag pattern" ....sure do love Google.....and made one this morning. Easy to make, although, mine does not look like the one I wanted to recreate....that one had the pockets on the outside and mine has the pockets on the inside....see picture below.
Not sure what I did wrong , or if I actually did anything wrong...I will have to examine the others at guild again to see just why it doesn't look right. I can usually figure out what went wrong with a second look. I did follow the pattern but with my luck, the pattern I have is not the one the guild used. Oh well, you win some, you lose some...
And the pockets are for..? Splenda? tea bag? I think I'd WANT the pockets on inside. Less chance of losing said teabag or whatever... also would keep them cleaner if you dropped it..?
