Dear Dorothy Jane got Framed!

Here it is, finally in the frame and ready to quilt.  I gave it long consideration and made up my mind  (what mind, you say) and decided I really didn't want to add anything else to the borders. I was contemplating doing some applique but the quilt is sooooo busy. It's one of those quilts that makes me wonder just why I started it in the first place. It will be interesting to quilt...all those different fabrics and patterns. I won't get bored, that's for sure.
The very first quilt that I made had a six inch outer border ..in pale yellow poly cotton...that'll date me , won't it?....and I had no idea what to do with it. My mother-in-law leant me her stash of quilting patterns and the one that caught my eye was the twisted rope. Way back then,(1976) it was made of cardboard from a cereal box with no design for the corners. I guess you had to figure it out on your own...anyway, today there are wonderful plastic templates with great corners ...quite different. You can see here just a little of the quilting I did tonight after I finished framing Dear Dorothy Jane. I don't plan on finishing this one this year...I could if I didn't mind sore fingers and did nothing but quilt all day....how's that for bragging. I used to do that type of thing when I first started quilting...I loved it so much. Now carpal tunnel and arthritic hands have slowed me down some. It's a good thing, too...otherwise I'd completely ignore the fact that Christmas is coming..

The quilt looks wonderful and I like the simple border very much. Your quilting enhances it perfectly!
