New tricks.

It's been said that you can't teach an old dog new tricks.  Well, I don't believe that anymore....this is a table topper that I just finished pinning in preparation for some machine quilting. That's not the new trick, I have done that before...not that well, but passable for me.  I'm talking about the applique. I've always been a freezer paper appliquer...it was the way I was taught many eons ago and I liked the technique. Even if it was tedious and time consuming and  a royal pain.  Well, a lady in my guild is a "back basting" appliquer and she showed me how to applique this 'new' way (at least , new to me) and I am totally enthralled with the technique...no more freezer paper...no more cutting the back out to remove the paper and the accuracy...well I am completely impressed and awed with the sharp points and the easy curves...I am soooo pleased with the results of the hand applique on this table topper. Considering the fact that I merely started it to see how I would feel about this method.  I am sold, I am a convert, I am tickled pink to learn a 'new' technique and now I have to crow about it. So guess what, I am an old dog(I have been called a 'bitch' before) and I have learned a new trick...ain't life grand???

Hi Quilting Queen,
Isn't it great when we learn new tricks!
Your table topper is sooo.. lovely! I'm a big fan of autumn colors and nature, so it is much to my liking.
Is there any chance that we can learn this new trick also to make our lives easier??
