Wouldn't you Know It!!

I was so pleased ...thinking I had made this quilt with no fabric repeats..even posted that very statement when lo and behold, after putting the darn thing in the frame and quilting away , I come to this spot.  The same fabrics and not even separated by another.....arghhhh!!! How annoying is that.  Shoulda, coulda checked it over before putting it in the frame.   Damn, double damn!

This is what is on my design wall...sounds so much better than  calling it "my piece of flannel stapled to the wall so I can get a better look at a pattern". Found the instructions in a Quiltmaker magazine and just had to give it a try.  It will make a great programme pattern for my quilt guild. We're always looking for new things to do.
This pattern was also in a Quiltmaker...isn't that the neatest magazine. so many new ideas. The pattern called for rickrack between the squares but I think I will use sashing and put the smaller Dresden plates in the cornerstone spots.  Did I mention that I am doing it completely by hand. It was the project I prepared to take with me while we travelled to Buffalo, NY and then on to Ottawa to visit my daughter. Needless to say, didn't sew a stitch...had too much fun.
This tea cart is an antique that my Godmother gave me. She and her hubby were the wonderful people we visited in Buffalo. She's more than a Godmother to me, she's more like my Mom since she used to claim me as her own when I was born. Anyway....this was a wedding gift to her and her DH 50 years ago. It came from a 90 year old lady that bought it  with her first pay cheque...you do the math. It is in great shape except for one wheel, which my DH says he can fix. He's my hero, don't cha know...
Then it was off to Ottawa to visit our quilting daughter and the baby of the family flew in from Edmonton the next day so we had a great family time. We hoofed her down to the tulip festival and I got a few pics...here's my two lovelies with great grins for their mom. We had a wonderful trip. Left our two little girlies(Faith and Tigger) with their breeder...when we went to get them, I don't think they wanted to come back with us. They had as much fun as we did.
