What a Great Day it Was

 We went on a bus, we had wonderful food, we got presents and then we went to a gorgeous quilt show. Now I ask you, what could be better than that?.....oh yeah, we bought fabric...there, now it was perfect.

This is my vote for best in show.  A Bargello type of quilt with really well done applique....and stunning on black.  It really needed to be opened completely but their racks were just a tad too small.  Not a problem, it still showed beautifully.

This quilt is Buzz Saw and no matter how you look at it, it shows great. I love quilts with points that "buzz".  Plus I liked the combination of colours...nicely done, wouldn't you say?

 I think this is an Art to Heart quilt.  There were three of them in the whole show. This one was in the bed sized quilts...the others were in the second part of the show.  This show was in Woodstock, an historic town with lots of beautiful, old Victorian style homes. This part of the show was held in a Service Club  across the street from the Connell House, where the second part of the show was held.. some of which is following...

 This piece just hollered my name. I'm not sure if it is an antique, because there were lots of beautiful old quilts to see and this one is either quite old or treated to look old. Either way, I loved it and am now inspired to give it a try. I know how to spackle the background and DH can make me a shadow box frame.  Miniature log cabin, here I come.





This crazy quilt tea cozy does not  show as well in the picture as it actually does.  The satins, velvets  and brocades are so sumptious

 and rich. Another one of those "Things I just have to do!"

This pillow was cute and very interesting... A pillow by itself and the cover was buttoned around it. I liked  the saying on it plus the embroidery and applique.

 I could certainly see it as a seasonal thing.Oh, I am soooo motivated.

 This miniature was extremely well done. I couldn't get close enough to read the info about it. This beautiful old house was jam packed with quilters and quilty things. If you got a chance for a quick picture, you had to take it.  Remember , I was time constricted as we were on a schedule. We were warned that the walk home was a long one.  I honestly don't think they would have left without me, but I wasn't about to put it to the test.

This little table was in the dining room, there was also a huge table with a dozen chairs. The table was set, and it looked nice but what caught my eye was the painted ceiling and this table.  Never had time to check out anything else. I would have liked to seen this

opened up completely to see how it was done. It's hard to see the painted picture with the angle of light on it but it is a picture of fiddleheads and great delicacy locally...a wonderful veggie. Well that's all the pictures of the show  I managed to get. There was so much more to see...eye candy galore.  A lot it was unable to be photographed  since space was at a premium..however, it was wonderful....
