Glutton For Punishment

These squares are 5inches...4.5 when finished and they will be going into a Dear Jane quilt. It's something I have always wanted to do but just couldn't find the motivation, especially considering the fact that a lot of them will be paper pieced and I am not a fan of paper piecing.

Today, I bit the bullet and started. I would have started the first of the paper pieced squares(they are all numbered and in order...a bit retentive that way) but Tigger decided I had done enough sewing for today and started barking at me and nipping at my heels...Shelties do love to herd.

If you ever decide that you would like to do a Dear Jane quilt..you can find a host of 4.5 squares at www.sentimentalstitches.com under midget squares. There are 92 of them available for downloading...won't make a very big quilt but you can always add as many more as you want. It will probably take a few years before it will be anywhere near the size I would like it to be so don't hold your breath waiting to see the finished product. I'll post a few as I do them, in between all the other projects I have on the go.There are just not enough hours in the day.

Those are pretty! I have done some paper piecing and kind of like it except when I don't cut the piece of fabric big enough and then discover it's short when I go to press it over. Grrrrr. It really does make piecing easier. We have a gal in our guild who does unbelievable, intricate pieces. Her work is incredible. And she designs it all on EQ. She is amazing. Have fun with working on the Dear Jane - will watch for a block once in a while. Carol

I haven't done a lot of paper piecing. I can see that it would be helpful with squares this little. These look really good. Can't wait to see the finished product. How many squares will there be by the time you are finished?

Whew, and I have enough trouble working with 4.5 inch pieces to make a bigger block - kudos to you tackling those little tiny blocks. They look lovely! Paper piecing - love the results, tolerate the technique
