And So it Grows

I couldn't resist making some more Dear Jane squares. The four on the left I downsized from EQ6 patterns..I have 44 of them printed out and just waiting to be pieced or appliqued. That will make a total of 162 patterns accumulated. I calculated that in order to make an approximately 90 by 90 quilt(I do like them to be square and that size fits our beds the best)..I will need 196. That way I will put together 14 x 14 with one inch sashing and cornerstones plus a 6 or 5 inch border so that I can do some appliqueing of vines and flowers. At least that is the plan now....it is always subject to change.

I was in contact with a friend from the town we were living in last year and she is doing a Dear Jane as well...it was something she and I talked about doing for a while. It's motivating when you have a sewing buddy urging you on...keeps you working along.

As you can see I have two paper pieced squares done..it's still my least favourite thing to do. I went over the patterns again and decided instead of regimenting myself to making them in numerical order I will put the pp'd squares together and choose one in between the other patterns..maybe then I won't get too frustrated. Either way, It's going to take a while to finish.

I know this is going to be absolutely gorgeous when it is done.... and it is going to make a wonderful heirloom someday! Hugs.

Looking at the paper pieced squares and thinking you did a masterful job of piecing all those itsy, bitsy scraps of fabrics into such lovely little blocks! My hat goes off to you!! And the other blocks are beautiful, too. Good start. Carol

Beautiful. I started a Dear Jane about 8 years ago, geeze now that I think of it , it may be closer to 9. It was put on the back burner for various reasons but I have been toying with the idea of either finish or just make a nice lap quilt with the completed blocks. I think I am about 3/4 of the way done with the center blocks so part of me says .......keep going sister and do the entire project. Maybe I will do that today...as I think that is my next UFO project to finish. I can use the blocks for leader enders for other projects..yeah.

I admire anyone who does these little blocks. They look great so far. I know you don't like paper piecing but I love the pineapple block. Give Tigger some pats from me. It's a bit strange to see a post without her somewhere in the photos.
