A "Round TOIT"

When my DH retired after 39 years with the RCMP, naturally a party was held in his honour.Being the quilter that I am, I came up with the , dare I brag... brilliant idea of a "guest" quilt. I had these squares tucked away from heaven knows how long ago. It was back in the day when I actually thought I liked paper piecing. I bought a bunch of Pigma pens and drafted my daughter to catch as many people that wanted to sign it as she could.

It's been six years. It's time to bite the "I hate paper piecing" bullet. I know the pieces go together well, I know it's not hard to match your points...I just hate tearing all the paper off. It's such a chore.

DH , being the great guy that he is has never asked about the "guest" quilt. When he saw me working at it today, he just said.."well, it's about time." If he only knew the great sacrifice I am making on his behalf...I have 3 quilts that need sleeves, 4 wall hangings that need to be quilted and a table runner that is begging to be finished in time for the quilt show in Sussex in September. Must be love that I would take the time just for him...or maybe it's that I need the container it's been hiding in. Either way, It's about time....

What a nice idea!! Look at all the writing and notes. And I love how the inner black strips make a square. It's sweet. I agree.... It's about time!!! (just kidding... if anyone would understand about how time flies when you're having fun, it's me!))

That is going to be a pretty quilt and it will be filled with such great memories. I just went to a quilt guild meeting and we invited a guild from the next town. The other guild has a Quilt Olympics meeting every year - one category is for the quilt that took the longest to make. Perhaps you could enter yours!! One lady took 12 years to finish hers. Good luck with it.

I do not have the patience for paper piecing, but I admire quilts made that way. This is just stunning! What a great keepsake:)
