Spooling along

Usually when I start a new project, I pick out the fabrics I am going to use, organize them in a "to do" container..prepare my templates and determine how many squares or pieces I need to finish the whole thing...right through to the binding. This is the first time, and it probably won't be the last, that I have absolute no idea what I am going to do with the spools...how big  this, whatever I do with it, is going to be and whether or not I will use sashing or borders. I cannot decide if this is liberating or downright scary.  I really like making  the spools..so far I have 67 made and another 20 cut out and ready to sew together.
I really miss my design wall. It would be a help to see them 'en masse' and determine what colours I should add.  Maybe it is time to really do a number on my sewing room and arrange things properly.  I certainly wouldn't want you to see my cutting tables, you would banish me from the quilting world.

Sometimes its nice to have a loose plan or no plan at all.

Love the way your spools look. A whole quilt (of any size) will look beautiful. I'm almost inspired to do a spool quilt this year. Are they easy to make ? I'm still feeling my way around the quilting world, and have only just moved on from squares and rectangles!
